The Story of Ruth, Boaz and Naomi In a Two-Act Play with Music
ACT 1 Boaz and Ruth have been married for 30 years. He's been cleaning out a room, so his grandson Jesse will have a place to play when He comes to grandpa's house. To Ruth's consternation, Boaz is getting ready to discard some of her "precious keepsakes."
Listen in as she explains the significance of each item, and re-live the amazing story of how they met. As they reminisce, Boaz realizes that there is one question he has never asked: Why did Ruth decide to leave her parents and homeland, to follow Naomi into a strange new land, in search of an invisible God? Ruth's answer: "I can tell you exactly what it was."
Fade to Black -- Curtain
ACT 2: Flashback! It is 30 years earlier. Naomi and her daughters-in-law are beginning their long journey to Bethlehem. Suddenly Orpah decides to return to her own people. But when Naomi encourages Ruth to do the same, she will not hear of it. Ruth has decided to go on with her mother-in-law. But why? Just what is it that has made Ruth so determined to stay with Naomi?
Meanwhile Boaz, still single after many years, is questioned by his young niece. "When are you going to get married, Uncle Boaz?" asks the little girl. "After all, you're so old!" Boaz expresses to this inquisitive mind his deep trust in God and His perfect plan.
EPILOGUE: Jesse, grandson of Boaz and Ruth, is now a grown man, with sons of his own. But he has a baffling problem... What is he going to do? Can anyone in the audience give him insight?
The Decision could change your life!
COMMENTS FROM A FRIEND OF DDM: "This dramatic re-enactment of the story of Ruth, Boaz and Naomi was well done by the Niquettes, and well received by our church congregation. It presented the story in a form that caught and held the attention of both young and old alike. I didn't notice the yawns, shuffling of feet, and clipping of nails that sometimes accompanies the Sunday morning sermon.
The portrayal of Naomi was especially captivating. Dramatic Difference Ministries presents programs that are true to the Scripture, with historically and culturally accurate settings. Their programs are well-rehearsed, planned and presented. I am certain the presentation of The Decision will capture the hearts of many people."
-- Pastor Dick Robert After the "Sneak Preview" at McKenzie Baptist Church.
SUGGESTION: Those planning to attend are encouraged to read the Book of Ruth during the week prior to the performance. Families may want to read the book together, and then ask eachother, Why did Ruth decide to leave Moab, in order to go with Naomi to Bethlehem? (Ruth is the seventh book in the Old Testament.)
